Get to Know Robert Rastorp

I am a devoted storyteller and fantasy enthusiast whose imagination has long been shaped by the sprawling worlds of The Silmarillion and the bold adventures of Conan. Since joining FanFiction.net on September 14, 2004, I have written six rich and imaginative stories that bring beloved mythic and heroic universes to life, drawing inspiration from original lore and timeless legends.
I write with equal passion about Tolkien’s intricately woven histories and the fierce, untamed world of Conan. Whether I am delving into the Eastern paths of the Istari or exploring the royal intrigues of Númenor, I approach each tale with both a deep respect for the source material and a vivid imagination that allows me to expand on what was only hinted at.
My published works feature a compelling blend of alternate histories, character-driven drama, and epic settings. I have explored the downfall of Númenor with a focus on human struggle and choice, as well as charted Conan’s path through mysterious realms where survival, wit, and strength are constantly tested.
I strive to balance grand mythological themes with intimate, personal storytelling that brings characters to life in meaningful ways.As a writer, I am always eager to grow and learn, and I welcome thoughtful feedback from readers. For me, writing is not only about creating stories but also about sharing a passion for fantasy, science fiction, and historical fiction with a community that values imagination and discovery as much as I do.

Another great read. What an adventure.

I am reviewing here because it is the most recent of your works. I hope you have not
been discouraged by the small number of reviews. Your work is far better than 90% (at
least) of the fanfiction I have read. Your characters, plots, descriptions, etc. are adult,
not juvenile, and realistic, rich, and rewarding to follow. I really appreciate that you
complete your stories, too. I have read so many good stories that have just been
abandoned for no apparent reason. I also love your leaving the characters as they were
described by the original authors, but answering questions left open by the books. I
hope you will continue to write, although I confess that I hope for more Tolkien stories
(but the Conan ones are good, too).

Now, that was a beautifuly made scene! Congrats to Conan and his sense of the
moment. Im wondering what will be Sets opinion about all this 🙂

Ysmira
Amazing battle, great mix of different types of wariors, their armor and their tactics. Im
wondering how long it took you to plan and device it all. The more you write the better
your ideas are, so keep going, I hope more people will appreciate your skill

Nate
I enjoyed your story.
I have read REH’s Conan stories 100 times and also all the Tor and Ace books dozens of
times as well. I am glad I found this site; reading fan fiction Conan is better than no
Conan at all 🙂
I suggest in your next yarn (if you choose to right one), you should have Conan regain
his youth and vigor by some magical means. I would love to read more about your
Conan in the “new world”, but with less of the “old man” problems.
Good job again, keep it up!

Another great story,
just an observation, you really don’t like nobles, do you? Not that they are useful
anyway 😉 Great conclusion, it was rather clear that it was Gandalf, but Thorin and the immediate
beginning of the Hobbit surprised me (positively). I assumed that this story would
happen a little earlier. I can not think of much else to write except the story is very nearly flawless. The only
thing I can see are a few minor typos/spelling mistakes, however there are not too
many. It seems you finished all your LOTR based stories long ago, however it would really be
nice to read more from you, since you really get the world like it was meant to be.
Maybe there are other parts which canon just skirted and which would be interesting.
Semi-OT: Did you by chance watch the new Hobbit trailer? Something to look forward
to, I think.

The wizards and their rivalries. I wonder how much of them were necessary…
So your story is very good, I think 4.5/5. An interesting rarely used topics, a plotline,
which has plenty adventures, politics, characters development and even the second
layer, under the obvious things like battle, I mean wizards’ plots and machinations, like
Saruman and his role with Mardil being the rulling steward, and Gandalf who organized
with Elrond the rangers of the North. Only divergencies from the canon are things I
rather don’t like.

Thanks. Capably fill in that space left by uncompleted parts of Tolkien’s writings of
middle earth. I enjoyed it. Felt a bit Tolkien-ish even.Had tension, intrigue and action.
So even a bit Peter Jackson-ish.Saruman fleshed out a bit and the mystery of the blue wizards cleared up. Check and check.
Thanks

This is a wonderfully written story, and covers things many fans of LOTR were looking
for. My only disappointment- and I’m probably not alone in this- is that the Blue Wizards
both fell almost straightforward into evildoing and were of course, destroyed.
I would encourage the author, or even someone else to take a crack at this topic again
with an alternative or deeper story- taking into account Tolkiens much later comments.
Where he revised the blue Istari and “revealed” them not as complete failures in their
mission, but something more complex- maybe even playing a critical role in saving
Middle Earth. Perhaps falling at first into evil and temptation, and then turning around- whether by
Saruman’s inspiration or just through their own internal struggle- to finally doing great
deeds. It is after all, what we we fans want to hear lol. Good work.

An excellent rendition of the arrival of the Five Wizards and their disparate mein. In
their first moments in the tale they already reveal their individual personalities and
moods. Curunir is proud and noble and mighty, unafraid to use his power when he sees
fit. Alatar and Pallando show their like-mindedness and their close connections.
Mithrandir displays his deep wisdom and it is Cirdan who sees this and rewards it with
the Red Ring.Your prose is just amazingly descriptive, perhaps the best I have ever read. The
description of Mithlond, the face of Cirdan, the swanship of the Istari, Cirdan’s majestic
and beautiful palace. It’s all so amazingly detailed and vibrant that the reader feels they
have stepped into Middle-Earth.My favourite scene in this chapter has to be Curunir’s bewitching of the Sea-Elves so as
to conceal the arrival and nature of the Ithryn. For the way he does so is grand and
majestic and very true to the personality of the White Wizard. Cirdan’s reaction is very apt and already you use that opportunity to display Curunir’s greatest power, his Voice. Not even the Lord of Mithlond is immune to the persuasive
powers of the White Messenger’s Voice. That scene is very well written and the reader
can picture the White Wizard standing tall and proud and speaking in his fair voice.
Truly amazing. Writing of this quality is extremely rare and a true gem.

I found this work to be a master piece. Being a great fan of tolkien’s work myself I was
unsure about reading fanfiction about it. But this one is perfectly well written, true to
tolkien’s work and fascinating. It gives a new and awesome new perspective of some
characters and events that greatly expands tolkien universe and it achieves that
without stranding from the path set by Tolkien. Many nights I found myself reading this
work without wanting to fall asleep, and my first desire in the morning was to continue
reading. I am not a Tolkien freak, but I enjoy his work very much and I consider this
material has the quality and the fidelity to the original universe to be considered at the
same level. To sum up, I really enjoyed this work as much as I have enjoyed Tolkien’s
original books. I would like to salute the writter of this book and I sure hope I can find
more works of his hands. I am sorry if my English contains errors, for I am argentinian
and I am writting from my mobile phone.

There were a great many elements you communicated so well in this story from the
various religious rites, both black and white or simply put, good verses evil to the
myths incorporated with those of Avalon (who could miss the similarities in spelling
Tolkien gave us, right?) along with the practices of the old Roman leadership, the
legend of Atlantis…just to name a few.The integration of the elves into the story, the familiar characters taking council with
the loyal and honorable sons of Númenor was pointed – I could almost feel the longing,
the homesickness of the men that were forced to found a new settlement upon
Middle-earth – the insights and birth of what became the kingdoms of men that
provided the pivotal stories for the Lord of the Rings…the establishment of the white
tree, the symbol of Gondor, etc., – wonderfully done!
You covered so much with such realistic detail – I felt as if I was actually there as the
Ringbearers of the Elves revealed their secret to the eyes of men.
Your description and perfectly paced scene of the War was nothing short of marvelous!
I will not recount every little bit that amazed me, so I end my wonderment of specifics
at this point.
You have written them with a great amount of attention to detail that transcends any
fanfiction story that I have read.
Even with a known storyline, you have written like a master of suspense!
Excellent story!
I hope you plan on writing another sometime in the future – and your idea to post a
fully written story from the start is an inspiring example to follow, methinks. 😉

I share a variety of stories and content for different kinds of readers. Whether you enjoy reading casually or love diving deep into unique collections, you’ll always find something that fits your interests.
Are these stories based on original works or fanfiction?
All of Robert Rastorp’s works on this site are fanfiction inspired by legendary worlds like Conan the Barbarian and The Lord of the Rings universe. They are written as tributes to the original creators, with unique plots and characters woven into familiar settings.
Do I need to read the original books to enjoy these stories?
Not necessarily! While reading the original stories by Robert E. Howard or J.R.R. Tolkien can give you extra context, each story here is written so you can dive in and enjoy without prior reading.
Are the Conan stories connected to each other?
Yes. Conan, The Feathered Serpent (Part I & II) are part of an ongoing adventure sequence. It’s best to start with Part I to fully understand the events in Part II.
Do the Middle-earth stories follow Tolkien’s canon?
The stories set in Middle-earth, such as The Witch King and the Fates of Arnor and Gondor or Saruman and the Blue Wizards, are heavily inspired by Tolkien’s lore, but include original scenes, characters, and interpretations to expand the universe.
Will there be new stories in the future?
Robert Rastorp has been actively writing since 2004, so it’s always possible more stories may come. Keep an eye on the author’s Website for updates.
